Castle ruin Ehrenberg, Austria

This castle ruin is located south of Reutte in altitude 1.100 meters just over the Highway 179 which connects Reutte and Lechtal valley with the rest of Tyrol land (through the Fernpass saddle). The castle was built ca. 1290 and was used to guard the strategic road to Reutte and this part of Austria. It ceased its function in 1782. "The hotel is old and not very friendly to Americans at least the day I was there. No place to eat, so they charge for dinner buffet and when asked if anything else around I was told by the staff that there is one but you need a reservation. They get you for it is in the middle of no where and we arrived late and did not want to drive 30 minutes for dinner when they were possibly closed. I would find something else if I had to do it again."
